ARE YOU SURE YOU DID YOUR BEST?

We all probably heard or give the phrases “I’ve had enough”, “I already did my 100%”, “I did my best” and the likes. We hear this maybe from our significant other, parents, friends, colleague, children or from a movie.

I am wondering if you are the giver of that phrase, how certain are you that you really had enough or you really reached 100%? While if you’re the receiver, have you asked if how true is that phrase that the other person is talking about? These phrases, are common during altercations or arguments that express frustration and are used as a defensive response.

In the workplace, we cannot easily use this to anyone, especially to our stakeholders without supporting facts because as much as possible we don’t want to be labeled as unreliable or exaggerated (slang: Over-acting aka OA). So, how do we make sure that we are certain that we had reached the limit? To do that, we need to ask ourselves first if we had a plan and a checklist, did all the items on the checklist completed, are the milestones achieved? In that sense we are able to identify that all the activities which you have the controls are completed, feedback was given, reached the milestones, took note, and made controllable additional action items.

In every plan it must have a timeline, when do you want this to be achieved or when can you say that “it’s over”? At the very start, you should have described your scope. We cannot always run our plan as if we are chasing forever because as what they (bitter person in love) say “Walang forever (there’s no forever)”. We probably can give extensions, especially when we talk about relationships, because, for a person that is in love, we all want to stay and keep that fire burning #kaRelate.

The best thing about creating a plan before diving to a commitment or to whatever that will have a risk of reaching to question your “best” are
-You can track the progress or status
-You are conscious, and
-You are systematically improving yourself aka you are self-learning.
-Assess yourself and provide a sound conclusions or decisions

Pretty sure we can adopt this mindset, my point here is before giving off a word try your best to make sure that it has integrity by making sure that it is backed by proof.
